5th Annual Dinner and Auction
Due to the hard work and assistance of many volunteers, we were able to raise over $50,000 at our Annual Dinner and Auction held on October 28th. This was an elegant event catered by Chef Peter Grantz. Attendees had the opportunity to bid on such items as an African Safari, Alpine Theater Tickets, salon and spa packages, jewelry, and ski passes to Whitefish Mountain Resort. Dr. Ron Miller won the Kimber America rifle by purchasing one $20 ticket from his grandson Eric. Catherine Owens was the lucky winner of a beautiful Sapphire Necklace donated by McGough & Co.
Grandparents Day!
On September 30th, the PTF of Whitefish Christian hosted Grandparents Day. Grandparents and Special Guests were invited to chapel, enjoyed a breakfast and presentation about our school, and visited their grandchild's classroom. We love having families and friends involved here at WCA.
Constitution Day, September 16th
Board Member Joe Coco shared at Chapel on September 16th, Constitution Day. Joe shared about the Constitutional Convention of 1787 and how the Constitution is not a "rule book" created to control the people, but a list of limitations on the power and authority of the federal government. Joe's ending chant for the students stated "Those who don't understand government... eventually become slaves to those people who do."
Friend of WCA - Leslee Washer
In February, friend of Whitefish Christian Academy, Leslee Washer, a retired Air Force Colonel and mathematics professor at that Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, visited the school. Our fifth through eighth grades participated in an assembly in which Mrs. Washer discussed how mathematics affect every area of your life. Special attention was brought to the wide variety of careers and the important role mathematics plays in each. Mrs. Washer worked out a variety of sample math problems with the students, from doing “estimates” to calculating lift and drag on a jet aircraft’s trajectory. Afterward, she observed first hand Mr. Morrow’s 5th grade math class, as well as Mrs. Stiver’s 4th grade class.
