Financial Policies

1. Tuition assistance may be awarded to families who qualify for such assistance. Families wishing to apply for financial aid must fill out the financial aid form and provide a copy of their most recent IRS 1040 form. Tuition Assistance forms will be reviewed by the Academy Board or a committee assigned by the Academy Board. Awards will be granted by the Academy Board. Income ceiling limits apply.
2. Multiple children discounts are given to families that have more than one child enrolled in grades 1 - 8.
3. Registration fees are paid for each child attending WCA. No child will be considered registered until the registration fee has been paid and the application process is completed.
4. Tuition is collected by FACTS Tuition Management Service. All questions regarding your account should be directed to FACTS Management Service.
5. Students registering mid-year will have their tuition pro-rated on a nine month tuition payment plan.
6. Returning students will not be considered re-enrolled for the coming year until the family’s account is in good standing and all fees have been paid.

2010-2011 Referral Incentive

If any currently registered or enrolled WCA family refers a new family which is subsequently admitted to WCA, a $500.00 credit per new student enrolled will be applied to that family’s account in two installments:  $250.00 on December 1st and $250.00 on May 1st of that academic year.  In order to receive the entire credit, the new student(s) must remain enrolled in WCA for the entire academic year.  If a new student(s) withdraws from WCA in the first year, the referring family will receive a pro-rated referral credit based on the number of months the “new” family paid tuition to Whitefish Christian Academy.  There is no limit to the number of referral credits a family can receive up to the cost of their family’s tuition; however, it will ONLY apply during the first year of a newly referred family.  This credit will only be applied toward tuition and NOT registration or other fees.  This credit will apply to families who also receive scholarships or discounts and will not be considered “double-dipping”.  This incentive only applies to new students entering grades 1 through 8.

Financial FAQs

Do we have to perform all our service hours?  No, if you prefer to pay for service hours, your account will be billed $100.00 per hour required; however, there are various ways of reaching your service hour goal (Preschool AM only-5 hours; Kindergarten/Preschool-8 hours; Grades 1 through 8- 15 hours; maximum service hours per family-15 hours).  There are many activities within the school year that you could be of assistance.  You may request a list from the office or read your newsletter each week for needs throughout the school year.
How much are service hours?  If you prefer not to serve, we bill service hours in May at a rate of $100.00 per service hour required.  This amount, when added to what we charge for tuition, closely represents the actual full cost of a single child's tuition.  If you turned in half of your service hour requirement for the year, you will be billed for the remaining half.
Do I get a tuition discount for paying in full?  No, there are no discounts for paying in full.
Are there scholarships available?  Yes, we offer scholarships prior to the beginning of the school year.  Scholarships vary based on income, academic achievement and need.  Scholarships vary from 10%-50%.  We do not offer full scholarships for the school year.  The most a family is eligible to receive is 50% off tuition only.  Registration fees are not included in scholarship awards.
May I work off my tuition?  No.
What is "capital maintenance fee"?  The capital maintenance fee is charged per family to cover building expenses, including the resurfacing of parking lot, furnace needs, roof repair and replacement, electrical needs and the many other facility related expenses that arise throughout the school year.
What do registration fees cover?  Registration fees cover consumable workbooks, fuel for the bus, class supplies, testing materials and administration costs.
When do tuition payments begin?  Tuition payments begin as early as June and as late as September.  We offer 12 month plans, 11 month plans, 10 month plans and 9 month plans.

TUITION ASSISTANCE

The purpose of Whitefish Christian Academy Tuition Assistance Committee is to provide tuition scholarship funds for families who are unable to afford all of the current tuition costs. Since WCA is a tuition and fee supported school and does not receive any federal, state or local tax assistance, tuition income is essential to the continuation of the educational program. Our Tuition Assistance Committee has the responsibility of raising funds to cover the portion of a family’s total tuition cost that the family can not pay. This is essential to fund Whitefish Christian Academy’s annual operating budget.

In order for the tuition application to be processed, WCA requires a copy of your most recent 1040 tax return to accompany this tuition application.

Tuition scholarship is only available for students in first through eighth grades. The total number of students in first through eighth grades receiving tuition scholarships cannot exceed 25% of the enrollment in those grades. Tuition assistance will not pay for registration, books or other school fees.

APPLICATION
Annual application is required for each family. All information that you provide on your tuition scholarship application is strictly confidential. Applications are considered in the order in which they are received (they are date and time stamped when they arrive at the WCA office) with the following priorities given:

• Returning students who are currently receiving tuition assistance
• Siblings of returning students who are currently receiving tuition assistance
• Returning students who are new applicants for a tuition assistance
• New students
  

Application for tuition assistance requires completion of the accompanying tuition assistance application form.

PAYMENT
Payment of part of the tuition, and all of the applicable registration and other fees, is required of each family receiving tuition assistance. The amount of tuition assistance awarded to a family is based upon the family’s demonstrated financial need; taking into consideration the family’s combined gross annual income, number of children attending WCA, and other relevant factors such as medical and college commitments.
